The Provincial City of Tianjin - Oregon's Sister State since 2014
Tianjin, located in northeastern China, is one of the country's four special provincial-level municipalities, covering over 11,000 square kilometers with a population of over 15 million. Tianjin has a long history as a critical treaty port for China's imports and exports. The city is an important economic hub, with manufacturing, aerospace, finance, and trade industries, supported by its proximity to Beijing and its role as a major port. Tianjin's sister-state relationship with the State of Oregon was established in 2014 to foster cultural, educational, and economic exchanges and enhance cooperation and shared development between the two regions.
